Position/Title: Machine Shop Operator
Department: Machine Shop
Reports to: Machine Shop Manager Elio Santos

Summary:
The Machine Shop Operator will report to the Machine Shop Manager. The primary duties of the machine operator are to load, unload, run and maintain the machine. The Machine Operator ensures the machine is properly set up and is operating efficiently and at full capacity. The operator oversees and makes adjustments to maintain product quality and meet order specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Set up, and run CNC router daily
Ensure that the correct product is in place for production schedules.
Work with computer-controlled equipment to make sure its set up properly, working well, and producing quality product.
Create and modify CNC programs as per drawings.
Read and understand the Drawings and 3D models.
Operate a chop saw to bring bar sizes into specifications.
Operate various pneumatic and power tools.
Maintain workspace cleanliness and perform preventative maintenance of the CNC machine.
Perform tasks while complying with company safety policies.
Follow OSHA standards
Work with Machine Shop Manager to follow daily / weekly / monthly production
Participate in continuous improvement projects
Participate in routine practices and team projects relating to LEAN, 5S, Scrap, Safety, Quality, etc.
Interact with production on any issues that may arise.
Work overtime when needed.
Perform other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements:
Bilingual, English and Spanish. (preferred)
Maintenance of a good attendance record in order to complete work assignments.
Ability to problem solve when the machine is not at peak performance, and to develop ways to increase output and/or fix errors.
An understanding of and the ability to operate the computer program that controls the CNC machine operations as well as an ability to work with CAD/CAM technology is needed.
Effective organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
Demonstrated, effective interpersonal communication skills
Ability to maintain data to accomplish company production strategies and goals
Experience in adapting to changes in the work environment
Ability to work in fast paced environment is necessary.
Ability to manage his/her time and staying on top of production schedules
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work within production teams
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to perform tasks in a manner that is safe to oneself and those around them.
